We had ZOMBIE SUB-920 T-shirts made.... sold out, more of those on order.
We published ZOMBIE SUB-920 issue #2..... almost sold out...had to order more.

In between we have been doing store signings, radio interviews, setting up all the trappings of any business, and publishing enterprise, and keeping on base with deadlines for issue # 3 ( due to publish the end of May )

Paleolithic pleasantries to all you cool cave cats, and cave kittens out there.  I missed a couple of months posting, but sometimes life just demands we focus on the things that really matter... like family... can you dig it?

Like I was say'n... I missed a couple months sure, but that don't mean I stopped fiddilin' with the brush and ink.... no sir-ree Bob.  Your 'ol Uncle Mitchy has been doing a Page for the CHARLTON ARROW a publication by my friend FESTER FACEPLANT.  The ARROW is a publication dedicated to all the things people know and love about Charlton publications.  That wonderful little cheesy comic company that dared to hold a candle next to the glaring search lights of the other two big boys in the sandbox.

The comic book KORG 70,000 B.C. was a personal favorite of mine among the many titles the company put on the stands in the 1970's.  When Fester announced the project I greedily jumped at the chance to volunteer my services for a KORG one pager. When it was finished however we found KORG was still licensed.... bummer! :(

That is when we came up with the idea to do a JONNIE LOVE story.  JL was a frequent guest character in the Charlton romance books.

BIG GREEN MONSTER

You are exploring a small tropical island with a beautiful woman at your side. Suddenly a big, scary, green plant man jumps outta the bushes and zaps her noggin..... how rude!  The adventure continues back on Zombie Sub-920 where even more shenanigans are taking place.  Captain Walters, and Nurse O'Brien better stop fooling with the flora and fauna of this cuckoo place and skedaddle back to the tub lickitty split!

DRIVING HIM CRAZY!

Hello groovy fans.  Today we see our old friend SUPER GROOVY MAN just about loosing his marbles. We usually see a calm, and serene SGM... could this be the after effects of the Karma ray he was recently exposed to by the Zendarian Ambassador?  We shall have to wait and see kiddies.

Greetings groovy gang! Here is another from the pages of SUPER GROOVY MAN.  Here we see Norman ( aka: SGM ) from back in the days before his super hero training was complete.  He was just a regular guy trying to stop a bloody massacre at a local fair.

Speaking of 'Ol timey fairs... Michelle and I took our Grandson to a fall festival This weekend. It was kinda like the old time fairs... It had rides, Handcraft tents, and games, and fair food, and Ox pulls. They called it a Fall festival, but to me it was a fair.

Nobody got massacred so we went home.......

ONCE UPON A NOT SO GROOVY EVENING

Hey there gang!  It has been an incredibly busy end of summer.  I became a Grandfather, got married, and sold my house.... and that was just the first week of August!!!  Somehow I managed to kick out a page or two, and here is one of them.  In this page we see our 'ol pal SUPER GROOVY MAN, before he was so groovy.  The panels above detail how dismal the dating scene was for 'ol Groove when he was just the everyday run of the mill schmuck named Norman Mann.  A skinny, no talent, chicken brained nobody that dames just wouldn't give the time of day to.  Comic books soon changed all that forever as you will see in future posts.

Greetings kiddies...  This is a page I actually colored a few weeks ago and have been meaning to post, but just got too busy.  I am selling a home, I just got married, and I also became a Grandfather for the first time...whew!  Anyway busy, busy summer, but all good stuff.  Well... time to run and put a few burgers on the bar'B. Just wanted to show everyone that the work still carries on. Peace doggies!

In fevered, frenzied, fright, I fastidiously fashioned, and fetid the scurrilous scrap of foolscap above until it seemed sufficiently palatable enough to pique your morbid curiosity.  Please enjoy your summer dear fiends, ....and enjoy your comics too!

THE SUPER GROOVY SUMMER

At last the long awaited cover of SUPER GROOVY MAN is finished!  This book has always been sort of a "pet" project of mine, one that I have not always been that serious about.  I always viewed SGM as sort of a side project, a catch all, a practice run if you will.  SGM was the comic I started and never finished. The wind just never hit the sails on this little baby, and so.... it languished in the backwaters of my mind for several years.  The cover you see above was penciled in the summer of 07, it was partially inked in 2010, and just completed today.

I guess because it was sort of a "summer project" of a comic, one that I would only pull out on "dog days" when I wanted to draw, but wasn't sure what to do.... I guess for that reason... the pages of SGM hold many special memories for me.  I always get excited when I finish a cover for one of my books.  Having a completed cover to look at makes it easier to visualize seeing the book on the stands some day, and thus starts the journey from mere concept towards solid reality.

Maybe that is why I am so happy about this cover.  At long last the journey is over..... SUPER GROOVY MAN has arrived!

Memorial Day greetings to all you good, groovy people out there on the psychic cyber seas.  I thought I would send forth some good vibrations, and share with you the latest page to spring from my drawing table into your hearts and minds.  I should like to draw your attention to the amicable fellow in the middle right hand panel.  The lovable salt of a Captain of this tub of zombies is none other than my little ol' self. Ah.... the privileges of being the creator!

SUPER GROOVY AND THE KARMA RAY

Switching up gears this weekend I managed to color two pages for SUPER GROOVY MAN.  I created the pencils, inks, and lettering to these pages a few years back, so the quality is a little stiff, and scratchy.  I tried to spiff it up some with dynamic coloring, and I'm pretty happy with the results.  What do you way out cats think?

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2012!

Happy Free Comic Book Day one and all.  In celebration of this high holy day of all Geekdom I have colored yet another page ( hushhhshshshsh.... Mitchell's on FIRE! ) but seriously folks.  My commitment to clean up my backlog pages is coming along nicely.  I continue to utilize every spare moment available to me thanks to my handy, dandy, multi-compartmented, explosive proof, galvanized steel, art kit.  I was able to color most of this page while at a laundry mat, and I lettered yet another page at a wonderful Chinese buffet establishment.  Herb Trimpe told me once that he drew the coveted HULK issue featuring first appearance of Wolverine, whilst sitting at a picnic table during a trip to the beach.  You do not have to be ensconced in a perfectly lit studio to do good work.  If you love your craft you can find a space to do it almost anywhere.

PRETTY AS A PICTURE

Greetings to you dear friends.  In the above panels you will see the latest in my efforts to finish up one of my books for the coming Comic-con season.  I have placed within it's pages a beautiful red-headed nurse. The inspiration for this character was my beautiful red-headed Wife to be... Michelle Young.  How lucky am I to have a Woman gorgeous enough to fill the pages of a comic?  I hope that we will see some of you good folks at convention time.  Peace and happy days to you all.

NO MORE LOOSE ENDS.... or flakey dandruff

Utz happenin' homies? Tis' I yer twisted teller of tantalizing tales returning to show you some more of my latest clean up efforts.  As mentioned previously I have been working hard to tidy up all the loose ends of the three books I have ready for publishing.  Just a little more coloring here, some lettering there, and maybe three blank pages to fill up.  Awwwww..... who am I trying to kid itza lotta work!!!

Nevertheless, I am really enjoying it, and I can't wait to set up at comic book shows this fall and hawk my wares.  I hope to see some of you hepper of the hep cats there helping me out with a purchase or two... or three even!

I TOLD YOU SO

I mentioned I would be finishing up some older material I have neglected far too long! Here then is some more color gore, ( from days of yore ) work from the mountainous back-log of pages yet to be finished before the fall con season. I banged out these colors on April fools day, whilst awaiting an auto inspection. Think of it... me,... a grown up type humanoid sitting there coloring while the grease monkeys tinkered with my auto! Hoo-ha!!! Until the next posting... my fine, frenzied, friends of all things freakish :)

BLUE ON BLUE

Greetings and Saturday night salutations to all you lovers of panelographic pursuit! It is I your humble home made comic steward here with another serving of selected delectable delights for your intellectual enjoyment. This installment finds me fit, fine and happy in my new surroundings, with a lovely red-headed wife to be at my side, and a new studio to call my very own. The initial goal is to work on the backlog of books I have in the 80% complete bucket. See... I just got so far on a book, lost interest and started another book. This happened at least four times in the last four years, so needless to say... I have four books that are all but 20% finished and ready to publish, well... I shall procrastinate no further friends. I have determined that before I jot another tittle, before I wet my wick in vain, before I apply pencil to paper once more... I shall first achieve the goal, before this year is out, of finishing all four of my books, and have them ready to publish and sell in 2013. There... I said it out loud. Anyways.... The reason I name this post BLUE ON BLUE is because I had a very specific color scheme in mind when I penciled and inked this, but it was only when I sat down to color it that I realized it was predominantly blue. It was quite a chore balancing all that blue, and yet still maintaining enough contrast that things stayed sharp and in focus. Hope you are all enjoying this early spring, and summer type weather.
