VACATION ALL I EVER WANTED

Hello dear friends out there in the land of comic-book-make-believe. Just a perspiring post to let you know I am enjoying my vacation immensely. It is just so wonderful to have so much time to draw and create, and catch up on projects long over due. Above is my little task for today, the lettering chores on page#2 of SUPER GROOVY MAN, ( a page I penciled over 3 years ago!!!! ) yikes! I'm basically jus' trying to loosen up the 'ol hands before I tackle the more recent stuff I'm behind on.... doesn't make much sense does it?....Oh well. Hope all you doggies and divas are either stayin' in the shade, or slatherin' on the coco-butter. Happy 4th of July faithful followers!

Are you using an Ames lettering guide? Some of the lettering seems to be straying a bit. I've been practicing hand lettering for a couple of years and I finally settled on a 107 crow quill for the regular lettering and a b6 for bold. Always glad to see people doing it old school.

Thanks for your comment Guybell, I always welcome such inquiries. I have tried an Ames guide before, but did not use one on this piece. If you look at the photo more closely you will see that I am doing this comic at ACTUAL comic size ( roughly 6x10 ) so I assume using a guide and quill would make it pretty challenging. I would be curious to hear if it has ever been done that small. I would also love to see some examples of your lettering. I concur my lettering does stray some , but then again it is all free hand and very tiny :) One of the joys of making your own comics is that you can be as professional or as free form as you choose.

I'm on the Penny Arcade forum, Artists section, "The Thread That Dripped Blood'. Lots of my sign painting, brushed comic inking, and my endeavors in struggling to master hand lettering.
Again, much respect to you for lettering by hand instead of just going digital.
